TONY JOE WHITE TRIBUTE BAND,(a.k.a. Swamp Fox)
The band Swamp Fox pays tribute to the late great Tony Joe White and was found by Dutch singer Robbert Fossen.
Together with musical director and superb Hammond B3 player Pascal Lanslots they put a band together with top notch Dutch musicians.
No matter if it's a festival stage, club stage or theatre this tribute band will 'tell' the audience the story of Tony Joe White through their/his music, story telling etc. depending on the venues circumstances. For the theater shows Marc Stakenburg, the famous Dutch radiohost, is added to the line up. He's a very experienced storywriter and teller. He's known for his superb book and 'roadmap' 'Music Trails' about the history of American music.
This tribute band isn't after playing Tony Joe's tunes note-for-note; its objective is to bring the vibe and character of a good pick of his beautiful songs to the table. Like some of his hits like Poke Salad Annie and Undercover Agent for The Blues, but also less known songs like Mother Nature and High Sheriff of Calhoun Parrish. Songs of musicians that influenced Tony Joe, like Lightnin' Hopkins and Muddy Waters, could be part of the show, The Tony Joe White Story, too.
To be respectful to the White family (and management), because of the recent loss of their Tony Joe, Robbert contacted his son Jody, to be ensured that this Tony Joe White Tribute would not come to soon or be to confronting for them. But... Jody White (through his personal assistant) sent a very positive and supportive reply and even offered assistance or whatsoever to make this happen.
Robbert is known for his deep voice and heard many many times that it reminds people of Tony Joe White's voice and timbre.
As a bluessinger he won several Awards and made it to the finals in Memphis at the International Blues Challenge 2013 and semi finales 2017.
Pascal Lanslots won the Award for best Dutch organ player. He works as product specialist for Hammond Europe.
